In class today my group and I spent most of the time working on our storyboards. We wanted to finish all of the storyboards so that we don't have to worry about drawing them next week when it's due, so now we can start filming quickly! In fact, we are filming this Sunday. We plan to film the electrical plant scenes at my house. We have extras to be bodyguards. I am very excited to start bringing this film to life! Furthermore, towards the end of class and into lunch we worked on our detective board. We added the polaroids and some more newspaper clips. I think that the polaroid really add to the board, and make it very realistic. They are definently the final touch. This board will add to the Mise En Scene of our film, so will the fake documents and the computer app we are using to look as if we are hacking into a system. All of these props and very exciting, I can't wait to use them while making our film!

Today in class we worked on our detective board! This is a prop that I am very excited to use in our film. To really create the affect that the resistance is a real investigation, by creating the detective board and fake documents it can add to the look. Using red string, a map, newspaper and pictures we are going to try and create it as well as we can. We are currently halfway done with it, adding the pictures of people next class. Furthermore, we are finishing our production plan and storyboard. We are balancing the work well, planning to be done with the production plan by the weekend we are starting filming. Below are pictures of our detective board.
In class today my group and I continued to work on our script and production plan. Our plan is to finish the script, production plan and story board this weekend and early next week so that we can get that part out of the way and start filming as soon as possible. We have already recruited some extras to be in our film as bodyguards. We are aware this is a large film project so we need to start working quickly but efficiently to get everything done on time. Furthermore, we have to give more time to edit than we did last time because last time we thought we didn't have enough time, and this time we want to add more effects which will take longer to edit. Over the weekend I am going to try and finish the production plan and as soon as Duncan and Conrad finish the shot list I am going to edit it and then start creating some of the story boards. Overall we are having a good start to making this film!
Today in class we presented our synopsis for our musical idea. Although mine wasn't chosen, I am very happy with the film I am making. I was happy with my idea, but it wasn't my favorite. The musical I will be working on is a dystopia about a world controlled by terrible teachers and a student rebellion. It is definently a very different idea, but I am very excited to work on it! I am working with the same group as I did for the western which I am very happy about since we work well together. We have discussed the film and the locations in which we want to film them. We have realised that this movie is going to take a lot of hard work and dedication to create, since it is very complicated. Furthermore we want to use very extravagant props and editing, which will also take time. Although we have lots of time, we need to manage it well. We are going to use many extras, and will need to recruit teachers to act in our film. Furthermore, we need to finalise the songs and record them. We are currently trying to finish our production plan and script before we start to create props and film. One of the bigger props we want to create is a bulletin board, similar to the ones seen in crime TV shows. I truly want this film to be the best film I've ever made, making it as great as I can. Although this will take a lot of time to make, I am willing to put in the time because I think it will be worth it in the end! I am extremely excited to work on this film, and excited to take on this challenge.
Today in class we finished watching Moulin Rouge. It was defiantly a very bittersweet ending. We are now creating ideas for our own musicals. Next class we are presenting our synopsis. My idea so far is about a girl who's grandma dies. The moral of the story is not to take things for granted, since she never visited her grandma, instead she hung out with her friends. I want to use "Supermarket Flowers" by Ed Sheeran. I think this song fits the synopsis of my film very well. Furthermore we watched a few films from the previous years. I think they were very well made, the songs all fitting in well. I am excited to work on the musical. I still need to work on my idea for the musical, since I need to create a clearer story. I want the musical to be sad and effective, getting the moral of the story across to the audience.
Musical Idea Notes: Teenage daughter leaves her mom who tells her to go visit her sick grandma. Ignoring her mom, she goes out with friends instead. Happy music plays, popular pop song about having fun (Good Time, Live While We're Young). While out partying, she ignores multiple calls from her mom. Finally when her mom calls for the 10th time to walks to a corner and picks it up. Her mom informs her that her grandma has died. She starts to feel spaced out, the music and sound start the echo. She starts heavy breathing. Runs out of the party and runs out. Sits very sad and starts to sing Supermarket Flowers. Moral: Never take what you have for granted. Today in class we started our musical unit. To kick off the unit we are watching "Moulin Rouge!". This is musical about the production of a show, how they get it funded and the events that happen while it is being created. I thought the way this movie used many different songs was very interesting. With most musicals I have seen the songs have been specifically written for that movie, but with this movie they used songs that weren't specifically written for this movie. For example, "Your Song" by John Elton. The songs are incorporated very well, fitting the movies plot as if they were written for the movie. I was very surprised when I heard these songs because I knew they came out before the movie. I have never seen any musical like this before. It is a very smart idea, since most of the audience will already know the songs, and will enjoy being able to recognise them while they are watching the movie! Overall I think the plot of the movie is very comedic but also heartbreaking at times. It definently has a lot of twists and turns and suspension builds throughout it. I have watched around half of the film so far, and I am enjoying it! Next lesson we will finish the movie. So far I am very excited to look in musicals, since one of my passions is music. I am excited to see how we are going to write and create our own musicals.
During the class today I was at Tung Ping Chau, so I unfortunately missed todays class. I have no reflection for today.
Today I wrote my evaluation on my western film instead of my reflection, check it out!
Today in class, my group and I continued editing our movie. We finished cropping our clips over lunch breaks prior to today, so today we finalised the filter for our movie and added sound effects and music. These final touches are vital to the completion of our film. Furthermore, we added a title and created the credits. My favorite part of the movie so far is the ending, when Quentin comes back to life. We are now only adding small adjustments, watching the movie, and then taking notes while watching, then going back and making the changes. We are simply perfecting the movie, making sure everything is the best it can be. We will be working on it one more time tomorrow at lunch, before exporting it so we can screen it on Wednesday!
In class today my group and I continued to edit our film. Yesterday, during lunch one of our group members and I came in and started the assembly edit. Today we started the rough edit. We have all of our scenes cut to what we want them to be, but we still need to change the audio, add a filter and add sound effects and music. We have a lot of work to do in a small amount of time, but I think that we can do it. Seeing the final product is very exciting, we are getting closer and closer to finishing. It has been a lot of hard work, not just the filming, but also writing the production plan etc.. I definently have learnt a stronger appreciation for people in the film industry who make films, because it is definently harder to do then it seems. Editing with four people is challenging, but we usually have one person controlling the mouse, while we all watch through the scenes making decisions as a team. There are a couple scenes and inconsistencies in our film which I am not happy with, but we don't have enough time to film again. I would like to re film these scenes, but because of our time frame it hard for us. We will have to edit it as well as we can, trying our best to hide the inconsistencies. Other than a couple problems, I am very happy with my film! I am very excited to edit again later and finish the film, and to watch the other group's films on Wednesday!
