These are the 3 musicals our film class created in different groups. My reflection on my own film is under the tab "Musical Final Evaluation". Here are my reviews on the other two musicals.
True colors
I thought that this film had a good and happy story. It followed a girl getting bullied, who then got defended by one of the bullies who decided to befriend her again. Furthermore the song choice was very good. The lyrics fit the story well, and helped to continue it. However, there were a few things that could be worked on. For example, a lot of the voice over didn't match up with the actual footage of the actors talking. Additionally, a few of the shots could've been centered better. For example, there were a few scenes of Lizzy that only showed from her chin up, but in my opinion it would've looked better if it was from the collarbone up. Continuing, the focus could've been done better as well. Especially with the close ups, sometimes they were blurry. Besides these minor issues, I overall thought that this film was made really well and was happy and cheerful.
Escaping the fairytale
This films story was very good, it was a good spin off of Cinderella, in a funny and meaningful way. I thought that the acting and placement of the shots was very good. The costumes were also really good, they really added to the Mise En Scene of the musical. Furthermore, the focus on some of the shots were very good. I thought the overall filming was very good, but one area I think could have been improved was the editing. There were a lot of harsh transitions that were very abrupt, that could sometimes off set the timing and speed of the film. Furthermore, the voice overs for the stepmother I think could've been matched up a bit better. However, overall this was a good and interesting story that was produced well into a film that I enjoyed watching.
