Today in class we finished watching Moulin Rouge. It was defiantly a very bittersweet ending. We are now creating ideas for our own musicals. Next class we are presenting our synopsis. My idea so far is about a girl who's grandma dies. The moral of the story is not to take things for granted, since she never visited her grandma, instead she hung out with her friends. I want to use "Supermarket Flowers" by Ed Sheeran. I think this song fits the synopsis of my film very well. Furthermore we watched a few films from the previous years. I think they were very well made, the songs all fitting in well. I am excited to work on the musical. I still need to work on my idea for the musical, since I need to create a clearer story. I want the musical to be sad and effective, getting the moral of the story across to the audience.
Musical Idea Notes: Teenage daughter leaves her mom who tells her to go visit her sick grandma. Ignoring her mom, she goes out with friends instead. Happy music plays, popular pop song about having fun (Good Time, Live While We're Young). While out partying, she ignores multiple calls from her mom. Finally when her mom calls for the 10th time to walks to a corner and picks it up. Her mom informs her that her grandma has died. She starts to feel spaced out, the music and sound start the echo. She starts heavy breathing. Runs out of the party and runs out. Sits very sad and starts to sing Supermarket Flowers. Moral: Never take what you have for granted.
